A totally eco-sustainable structure in the woods of the Val di Cornia
In a semi-detached house we offer an independent three-room apartment + services, possibly divisible into a studio apartment (with independent kitchenette) and a two-room apartment with independent entrances. The apartment is equipped with all minimum comforts, bathroom with shower, sink and bidet, oven, washing machine, air conditioning, satellite TV (free channels) WI-FI, all in complete energy independence (photovoltaic and solar panel). The apartment is “No Smoking”. Even outside, “distracted” smokers are not allowed as they are in a wood and therefore at high fire hazard. Private garden with the possibility of using spaces for outdoor dining and sunbathing in relaxation and leisure. We will always be present, but guests will be able to live in total privacy and autonomy. With advance notice and small contribution, there is the possibility to eat typical Tuscan dishes. The nearest inhabited centre is 5 km away. The house is not served by public transport, so it is preferable to be equipped with cars / motorbikes. Ideal for mountain bike and trekking lovers.
Ideal for those seeking tranquillity, not far from the historic centres of Castagneto Carducci, Bolgheri, Volterra and Massa Marittima. The beaches of Donoratico can be reached in 25 minutes by car and with another 10 minutes the beaches of San Vincenzo and the magnificent Gulf of Baratti dominated by the ancient village of Populonia.
We are warm and welcoming hosts who like to share the bucolic experience of this place.
And if you want, we are ready to open the doors of our home to curious travellers for culinary experiences.

Parking - Boat storage
No parking problems, the road (dirt road) that arrives at the house ends here. We are therefore the only ones who pass through and park there.
To visitors of the Gulf of Baratti and the surrounding area, we offer the opportunity to park in one of our properties in this area (2 km from the Gulf or 8 minutes on foot from the Stellino beach or 20 minutes on foot from the splendid Pozzino bay overlooking the Gulf itself) . Comfortably, in the shade and free of charge (which is no small thing given the important parking rates applied by the Municipality of Piombino). If we were present, we could, with prior notice, agreeing it and with a small contribution, also offer a passage to the Gulf of Baratti itself or to the village of Populonia from which you can enjoy a magnificent panorama of the Island of Elba and the gulf below.
In the same area, for owners of sailing dinghies, boats or dinghies, always with a small contribution, we offer the possibility of storing any trolleys for transport, while to moor them at sea we have contacts with some mooring operators in the Gulf of Baratti, both for sailing dinghies sailing and boats and rafts. Other mooring possibilities are available nearby.
Checkin & Checkout
We tend to ask that check-in takes place in the afternoon, and check-out by morning, so we will be able to prepare you a better welcome. But we are obviously available for any personalized requests..
Cancellations
We are not a tour operator, or a multinational company in the sector, therefore we do not have a vast database of potential guests. So, any cancellations would put us in great difficulty, since a reservation is an important commitment for us, because “replacing” guests would not be easy. Rather, before booking, we are available to answer to all needs, requests for information and everything necessary to avoid cancellation. We are present almost all the year so, agreeing, if you want you can also come and visit us before your stay or booking to, perhaps, get to know us better and possibly check for yourself the structure and everything related to it.
House Rules
We made some choices in the name of maximum Eco-sustainability and willingness to welcome. That’s why we ask smokers to be absolutely careful and NOT “distracted”, therefore certainly not to smoke inside the apartment, but to pay special attention also outside as, given the particular position of the structure IN the woods, it is very high the risk of fires and that the nearest Fire Brigade are at least an hour’s drive from here. We also made the choice not to ask for extra consumption payments, in order not to “haggle” sums which are then marginal in the overall holiday. Considering this, however, we ask you not to abuse the use of wi-fi connection, water (which is very expensive and precious in these areas, especially in summer) and electricity, even if integrated by photovoltaic panels, considering that the capacity of the storage batteries is minimal.
We are in the woods, without a sewage system, the drains then end up in a mini purifier-digester, so we avoid throwing hair, oils (tuna, fries, etc.) or highly corrosive liquids (gushing acids, or excessively aggressive detergents) into the drains. Rather ask for help without reservation. The Municipality has set up a separate collection service, we have accordingly set up bins to comply with it. In case you have not understood the method or need additional containers, always ask.
Obviously, we respect the forest and its flora and fauna, so we do not abandon ANYTHING that is not naturally perishable and tolerable.
For owners of pets we recommend the utmost attention in the behaviour (even sound) of their friends, the structure has been furnished completely new, so any damage would be less tolerated. Being in the woods, it is necessary that, if they are left free, they respond to the calls because the forest is populated by foxes, wild boars, fallow deer and other wild animals, therefore at potential risk of attack. Wild animals do not come close to the structure, especially in summer in the presence of “humans”, but it is always good to pay attention to your behaviour.

The Val di Cornia and the Alta Val di Cecina are places rich in history and natural beauty. There is no shortage of opportunities for leisure activities and to make your holidays pleasant, or just to restore you from the stresses of everyday life. The sea, with the coast that goes from the beaches of Rosignano down to the gulf of Follonica and Castiglione della Pescaia (all within easy reach of a day trip), the hills, the geothermal areas, the numerous thermal areas, the walking routes, mountain bike or horseback, they will welcome you in the best way.

Obviously, there are many possibilities to eat in the area which, being between the sea and the hills, can range from fish-based menus to tasty meat and local game. The village of Canneto located in the Municipality of Monteverdi Marittimo; the historic Volterra; the Geothermal area of Larderello with the interesting Geothermal Museum of Monterotondo Marittimo; the beautiful Island of Elba; the city of Piombino with its historic centre and its Piazza Bovio (the largest seaside square in Europe); the promontory of Piombino with all its wonderful coves and bays Cala Moresca, long beach, Fosso alle Canne, Cala San Quirico, Buca della Fate; the Gulf of Baratti with its pine forest, dominated by the ancient village of Populonia from which you can enjoy a beautiful panorama of the gulf and the Island of Elba, and which also includes the Baia del Pozzino and an important Etruscan archaeological park; the Stellino beach where the very long beach of San Vincenzo and the coastal park of Rimigliano ends and from which you can have access to a naturist beach, an area reserved for dogs and many kilometres of free beach; half an hour’s drive from home, the beaches of Marina di Donoratico-Castagneto Carducci, Marina di Bibbona until you get to Cecina and continue north finding Vada, Rosignano Marittimo, Castiglioncello, Quercianella and Livorno.

The visit to the San Silvestro archaeological-mining park is an extraordinary opportunity to visit the bowels of the earth in these areas.
While the horse trails available starting from some farms in the area will allow you to discover suggestive routes immersed in the wild surrounding nature.

The territories of Val di Cecina and Val di Cornia enclose two of the better-preserved areas in Tuscany, ideal destinations for those who want to organize healthy and active holidays at the same time, with the opportunity to visit wonderful and peculiar villages and ancient medieval cities, without giving up to the sea and the beautiful wide beaches.
We are in fact only 15 km from the Etruscan coast and the sea.
The typically Tuscan landscape with hills, perched villages and woods characterizes this land, the cradle of ancient civilizations such as Roman and Etruscan, rich in traditions and an atmosphere steeped in culture. The Val di Cornia and the Val di Cecina are endowed with wonderful natural sceneries and, to fully enjoy the peculiarities, we advise you to live your experience in a slow way.
Forget your car and set off to discover the Val di Cecina and Val di Cornia on foot, by bicycle or on horseback.
